The setting looks to be a fictional Asian cityscape based on Hong Kong in the 1980s and 1990s. What the Slitterhead trailer may lack in hints at the gameplay and story, it makes up for with incredibly intense action that really hypes up the fear factor and anticipation for the new horror game. It’s possible, though, that we’ll see the game released in 2024, as there’s still no release date info on the studio’s website. In theory, the game could be released later on in 2023, as Toyama had mentioned in an interview with IGN Japan that took place before Slitterhead’s announcement. Toyama also made sure to let fans know that they would be kept aware of any updates and progress with the game’s development. Keiichiro Toyama confirmed that production on the game would last until the end of 2022 at least when speaking in an interview with IGN after the game’s announcement at The Game Awards 2021.

Unfortunately, there’s no set release date for Slitterhead as of right now. With anticipation building, many gamers are dying to know when Slitterhead’s release date is, and what we can expect from it.

Keiichiro Toyama last worked on the Gravity Rush series and fans have been waiting decades for a new Silent Hill entry. It seems like Slitterhead may be exactly what fans want from the legendary video game developer. The disjointed scenes of uncanny experiences are certainly unsettling.
